Wisdom and Life

This past Wednesday, I had the opportunity to tell some of the Primary (elementary) and Junior High students about the importance of Wisdom. I told them the well-known (made-up-on-the-spot) anecdote about the boy who, having been granted all knowledge by God at a young age, still ended up unemployed through his old age. The reason? He had no wisdom! He did not prepare well; did not put the knowledge he had to good use.

Ya see, knowledge is like a hammer. It is useful for making progress..really useful. If you have no idea how to use it, though, then you may end up hitting yourself.

Proverbs 2:3-5, 10-12 ESV

yes, if you call out for insight

and raise your voice for understanding,

if you seek it like silver

and search for it as for hidden treasures,

then you will understand the fear of the Lord

and find the knowledge of God.

for wisdom will come into your heart,

and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;

discretion will watch over you,

understanding will guard you,

delivering you from the way of evil,

from men of perverted speech,

Also, today marks that four month and 3 day anniversary of post-undergraduate life for me. I am blessed to be in a house with parents whose lives are sold out to the purposes of the Lord Jesus Christ, the effects of which continue to teach me that trusting in God is a worthwhile endeavor. I am living on purpose, striving each day to fulfill the plans of God for the life I live in this body. I am learning that believing in Jesus is frequently difficult, and never automatic. Gratefulness is one of the key qualities to walking in tandem with the Holy Spirit, as is the knowledge that a good Father walks with me each day.

May the good and gracious King of Kings bring you into the remembrance of his presence each day.
