So I may not have found the ping-pong scene...but I did find some great community! I should get some definite points for that. Hand 'em over.
This weekend I have been going to the Redemption Chapel Global Evangelical Church since Wednesday night. We spent that and the next three evenings in a mostly musical program of worship. It was a great time to get to know people my age, and from another language group, too!
I have very little to say about it all, simply because the whole weekend can be summed up in a word...peers!!! I have been so excited to be around people who just include me as a friend, rather than some anomaly, or as some stranger to be awkwardly tolerated. Now, though, I have to learn a new language: Ewe; three letters, e-[barred b]-e. For the sake of friends, so be it. Mawu yira wo, and such.
Here are two pictures. One is of the program on Valentine's day. "Jesus, my Val[entine]." The other is of tonight (Saturday); one of the choirs leading praise and worship.
Tomorrow is the crowning of the weekend. I will go back to Redemption Chapel tomorrow morning for Sunday service. At this point, by which I mean the time at which I am writing these very words, my mind and body are quite tired. Why? I left the house at five this (Saturday) morning to join the Youth at Redemption Chapel in a friendly, one-mile-ish jog to the church building, then we cleaned up that building and the yard around the pastor's house. We chilled a little, and I was back at the house before 10:30. The most activity I have done between 5 a. m. and 10 a. m.....
